Book Review: Henning Mankell Faceless Killers (Kurt Wallander #1)

Faceless Killers is the first in the Kurt Wallander series by Henning Mankell. An elderly couple living in a remote farmland with seemingly nothing to their name are brutally murdered. The only clue the detectives have is the dying words of the wife- 'foreigners'. Leaked to the press these words are enough to spark racist attacks across the local area including the murder of a Somali. Wallander must deal with all of this as he seemingly tries to solve an impossible case.
The book is set over a six month period, not your usual time-frame for crime fiction detectives, but most months are glossed over as nothing happens.
